I found out last week I had something called a Klout Score. Apparently everyone on Twitter has one and it measures your influence on Social Media. You can add all your various accounts to measure your level of influence. Everyone is scored between 1-100 and 40 is the average score. The top 5% of people have scores above 63. People can even obtain jobs based on the value of their Klout Score.
Quite remarkably I have a score of 60. This is quite achievement for a Social Media Newbie who can’t seem to get anyone to like his Facebook Page. However; rather bizarrely Klout seems to feel I am a person who Influences the Online Community. I am not sure I agree.
Klout even goes so far as to say I am an expert in various fields. So what are these fields?
Disney & Travel Writing
Well I guess my blog and You Tube primarily cover these topics. I can accept I do have some knowledge in these areas. Mildly disappointed despite spending time writing about cruising this is apparently not one of my expert areas.
Camping
I usually go camping once a year. Although I enjoy it I am not sure that quantifies me as an expert.
Toilets
Really?
Apparently I am an expert in toilets. I guess we all spend some time in the restroom daily so we are all probably experts to some degree. However; am I more knowledgable than other people on Twitter and Facebook?
My assumption is the following article is what quantifies me as an expert.
I have to admit I am now struggling to see the value of my Klout Score.
Iceland
Wait a second…..Iceland?
The country!
Never been & never written about it.
How can I be an expert?
Apart from knowing they knocked England out of the Football European Championships this summer I know little else .
Being a Mom
What?
Being a Mom!
I am a 41 year old male.
So all new mums you know where to come for advice modernlifeisgood.
I am an expert in being a Mom. As Klout says I am!
I think the above proves that your Klout Score is just a random number that probably means nothing.
