Tipping at Walt Disney World

Tipping can be confusing, especially for visitors from countries where it isn’t customary. However, tips are expected in many situations (e.g., table-service restaurants, bars, bell services, salon services).

We’ve got a complete Guide to Tipping at Walt Disney World with who/when/how much to tip and what’s already included.

Guest Relations at Walt Disney World

Guest Relations locations are found at all four theme parks, both water parks, Disney Springs, and ESPN Wide World of Sports. They help with reservations, general questions, ticket assistance, concerns and complaints, accessibility information, currency exchange, Lost & Found, and more. If you have a question or problem, they can usually help.

You’ll find exact locations in park maps and in the My Disney Experience app. The app itself now answers a large number of common questions and shows real-time park info.

Theme Park Rules & Prohibited Items

Walt Disney World Theme Parks have several rules to ensure guest safety and protect the park environment.

All guests and their bags are screened before entering parks. There’s a list of prohibited items (e.g., loose ice in coolers, glass containers, weapons, recreational scooters that aren’t mobility devices, and drones). Review Disney’s current Park Rules before you go to avoid wasted time at security.

Visit our guide to learn more about what is banned at Walt Disney World.

Dress Code at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World reserves the right to refuse admission to guests who they feel are dressed inappropriately. Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must always be worn. Perhaps surprisingly, this includes wearing costumes by all guests over 14 except at select hard-ticket events (e.g., Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party).

If you want to dress “inspired by” characters, look into DisneyBounding. When in doubt, check Disney’s official dress guidelines.

Strollers at Walt Disney World

If you think the kids might need a stroller, bring your own. Walt Disney World includes a lot of walking and late nights. Even the most independent small person might get tired at Walt Disney World.

If you need a stroller after you arrive, hire is available at all Disney World parks. Current charges are: Single stroller $18/day; Double stroller $36/day (multi-day discounts available). Rentals are park-only, but keep your ticket and swap for a new unit if you park-hop. Prices can change; check day-of in the app.

Wagons, including stroller wagons, are now prohibited inside parks. Also, strollers should be no larger than 31” wide and 52″ long when measured across the widest and longest points.

Locker Hire at Walt Disney World

Most guests do not need to take much into Walt Disney World parks. The only exceptions are if you have a medical problem or are traveling with a baby/toddler.

Lockers are available near each park entrance if you need to store items without having to carry them. All lockers are subject to availability and come with the following daily charge:

  • Small $10 a day (12″ x 10″ x 17″)
  • Large $12 a day (15.5″ x 13″ x 17″)
  • Jumbo (Magic Kingdom park and EPCOT only) $15 a day (17″ x 22″ x 26″)

Standard and large lockers are available at the water parks, priced at $10 or $15 daily.

Prices can change; check day-of in the app.

Walt Disney World Tours

Disney offers a variety of behind-the-scenes experiences throughout the year. Walt Disney World Tours are not cheap; payment must be made in advance in addition to your theme park admission.

Epcot’s Land pavilion’s ever-popular Behind the Seeds Tour is one of the cheapest tours, but it is still an expensive add-on. Expect prices around $39–$45 per person, depending on date.

Premium tours like Keys to the Kingdom and small-group animal tours also run most days; availability has grown since the phased reopenings, but lineups can change. Check the Enchanting Extras Collection for current offerings.

These are shared tours unless otherwise noted; group sizes vary. Now and then, you’ll luck into a near-private feel! When we did the former Family Magic Tour, we were the only guests.

Disney’s VIP Tour Services

Private VIP Tours are the “ultimate splurge.” A dedicated guide designs your day around your priorities, typically with expedited entry and efficient park-to-park touring.

Pricing is per hour and varies by date/season; expect to pay around $900 an hour. The minimum tour length is 7 hours, and there can be up to 10 guests per guide. Demand is high on peak dates—book well in advance.

Disney also sells a few non-private, pre-designed VIP experiences at lower price points (availability varies across the year).

Walt Disney World always has a price, including private character meetings! If you have a dream experience, and the money — ask!

Walt Disney World Firework Cruises

There is now only one shared firework cruise available at Walt Disney World:

  • Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise signature drinks and desserts are served as you watch the Magic Kingdom Fireworks from a Ferryboat on the Seven Seas Lagoon. Recent pricing: $130+ tax (ages 10+) and $100+ tax (ages 3–9), subject to change.
  • Private Specialty Fireworks Cruises for Happily Ever After (Magic Kingdom) or Luminous (EPCOT) aboard 25-foot pontoons (up to 10 guests). Prices start at $449 + tax and vary by date; soft drinks and snacks are typically included.

Pricing is subject to change and may vary by time of day.

There used to be various luxurious specialty cruises, including an option to have a butler, but these are currently not advertised. Contact Disney if you have a specific request to see if they can create a magical experience. As with anything at Walt Disney World, there is usually a price for everything.

Payment for Goods at Walt Disney World

It can feel “cashless,” but cash is still accepted at most locations at Walt Disney World(a few small kiosks/carts may be card-only). However, Mobile Ordering and Merchandise Mobile Checkout require electronic payment.

Cashless payment options include debit cards, Apple Pay, credit cards, and Disney Gift Cards. Guests staying in a Disney Resort can set up a charging facility for purchases inside parks & Disney Springs.

Disney Resorts and Guest Relations at the Theme Parks offer International Currency exchange. However, there might be limits on how much you can exchange, and rates are not usually reasonable.

ATMs are located throughout Disney World and can be located on park maps and the My Disney Experience App.

  • On-site shop offering essentials, including formula, baby food, juice, diapers, wipes, sunscreen, over-the-counter medications, and clothing for purchase

You can locate the Baby Centers on park maps and through the My Disney Experience App.

Lost Children at Walt Disney World

There are so many things for small children to see at Walt Disney World; some will inevitably wander away from their parents.

If a child becomes separated, Cast Members will escort them to the park’s Baby Care Center and look after them until reunited with their family.

If you lose your child, notify any Cast Member immediately—they’ll coordinate the search.

First Aid at Walt Disney World

First Aid centers are available at all Disney World parks. Trained nurses staff the centers, and they are open during regular park hours. Facilities available include over-the-counter medications, bandages, and other quick remedies.

Services are also available at all Walt Disney World Resorts, and you can access First Aid by dialing the front desk.

For more urgent needs, Disney partners with AdventHealth, which offers in-room care at the resort, urgent care centers in the area, and even ERs if needed.

If there is a genuine emergency, dial 911 from any resort phone.

Accessing the Internet at Walt Disney World

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout parks, resorts, and Disney Springs. Speed can fluctuate during peak crowds and in some queues, but coverage is broadly good.

Ideally, have access to either 4G or 5G so you can always access My Disney Experience.

Lost & Found at Walt Disney World

It is easy to lose things at Walt Disney World, but perhaps amazingly, things often do get found. However, nothing we have ever reported has been!

If you lose anything, it is essential to report it straight away. Information on how to report your lost items is located here.

Smoking at Walt Disney World

All theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, and ESPN Wide World of Sports are smoke-free, and this includes vaping. Designated smoking areas exist outside the park entrances and at Disney Resort hotels.

In addition to theme parks, smoking is not permitted within resorts, including balconies. There are small designated smoking areas inside all resorts. You face a hefty cleaning charge if you get caught smoking in your room.

Charging your Mobile Phone at Disney World

FuelRod Kiosks are located throughout Walt Disney World, selling portable chargers. Currently, these kits cost $38. Kits include adaptors for all Apple and most Android devices.

Once your charger needs replacing, you can either:

  • Charge it yourself later in the day.
  • Replace it at any kiosk.

The situation over replacement chargers is complex, has involved legal battles, and there have been periods when replacements have been free or subject to a charge. At the moment, they are free and seem likely to remain that way. However, policies can change without notice, so treat this as a convenience, not a guarantee. You will also find FuelRod locations outside of Disney World, but expect to pay for a replacement in these locations.

Another option is bringing a portable charger to the park daily, but you will have to recharge it every night.

Ears to the World, Disney Show Translator

Guests who aren’t fluent in English can borrow a complimentary device at Guest Relations to hear translations for around 25 attractions and shows (commonly available in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Japanese).

Availability and supported attractions can change, and it was removed for several years, but now appears to be in operation again.

Additional Information for guests who are not fluent in English

While English is the official language of Walt Disney World, it does not mean you have to be fluent to have a great time. There are thousands of international guests visiting Walt Disney World every day.

Maps are available in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Japanese. The majority of restaurants will also have menus in different languages available.

Many Cast Members are bilingual; language badges on name tags indicate which languages they speak.

Ricoh Business Centers

Can’t keep away from the office or have some urgent, unexpected business?

Business centers operated by Ricoh are located inside the convention centers of Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club (shared), BoardWalk Inn, Contemporary Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, and Grand Floridian.

Services typically include computers, printing, shipping, and more.

Pregnant at Walt Disney World

Pregnancy is not a reason to stop visiting Walt Disney World. However, there are several attractions in every park that pregnant guests are advised not to ride.

Signage posted at every attraction highlights which rides are unsuitable for expectant mothers. The signs also provide Information on height requirements, health and safety advisories, and accessibility guidelines.

Examples (not a complete list and subject to change—always check signage/app on the day):

  • Magic Kingdom: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON Lightcycle / Run, The Barnstormer, Tomorrowland Speedway, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
