When Should You Visit Walt Disney World in 2026?

Are you planning to visit Walt Disney World in 2026? Something you’ll probably be thinking about already is when you should go. Unfortunately, school holidays and annual leave will dictate the dates for many of us, but if you have flexibility, there are weeks when the parks feel less crowded. Crowds aren’t the only factor, though: EPCOT festivals, seasonal parties, and new or re-imagined attractions can all shape the “best” time for your trip. It’s also worth considering the weather and whether any special offers line up with your dates.

Walt Disney World Crowds During 2026

Walt Disney World continues to get busier, and festivals and parties now draw people into once quieter periods. In recent years, that has taken a little pressure off parts of late summer.

The busiest times remain: Spring Break and Easter, the core summer weeks, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. Disney typically extends hours during peak periods, which helps you get more done.

US school holidays always inflate attendance. If you need a sense of term times, check national calendars to see how your dates line up. We’ve got a separate “Managing Crowds” guide with practical tactics.

Typical lighter windows are from mid-January to early February and from post-Labor Day through early October. However, “lighter” isn’t the same as “empty.”

Should you visit parks on set days?

Many sites publish “best day” charts, but they rarely agree, and our experience has shown that they’re not consistently reliable. We don’t recommend paying for crowd calendars. Instead:

Special Events at Walt Disney World in 2026

We all love a good party, and Walt Disney World is excellent at them. They can add something unique to your trip and influence which month you choose to visit.

EPCOT festivals

EPCOT typically runs four festivals across the year with food booths and entertainment:

  • Festival of the Arts (winter),
  • Flower & Garden (spring),
  • Food & Wine (late summer–autumn)
  • Festival of the Holidays (late Nov–Dec).

Check the official Disney website for travel details, including exact dates and line-ups, close to your travel date. Dates have been changing over the last couple of years.

Parties at Magic Kingdom (and a holiday extra at Studios)

Over in the Magic Kingdom, there are two annual parties:

  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (select nights Aug–Oct).
  • Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (select nights Nov–Dec).

Both of these parties have an additional admission cost, but they offer an excellent opportunity to experience rides with minimal wait times, meet rare characters, and enjoy unique entertainment.

Jollywood Nights are a new addition to Hollywood Studios over the last couple of years. The party runs for 5 hours on select nights in November and December. Jollywood Nights are a more stylish celebration compared to the Magic Kingdom’s parties.

Walt Disney World Weather

While it is doubtful you can visit Orlando and not encounter a fair measure of sunshine, it can undoubtedly be offset by plenty of rain and the occasional storm. However, a hurricane is unlikely to ruin your vacation.

We have created a Guide to Orlando Weather, which has further information.

Special Offers at Walt Disney World

Room and package discounts appear throughout the year, with details varying by market. Keep an eye on Disney’s official Special Offers page to see what’s available in your region before you book.

As part of your early research, check forums to see when offers have traditionally been released.

New Attractions at Walt Disney World in 2026

New attractions often draw large crowds. This summer, the reopening of Test Track and the new nighttime parade in the Magic Kingdom made crowds go wild. There isn’t a lot happening in 2026 that will draw massive crowds. Highlights are likely to be:

  • The reopening of Big Thunder Mountain with some new scenes.
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will have a significant refresh.
  • Uncertain changes to Spacehip Earth.
  • The Magic of Disney Animation will open in Hollywood Studios.
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will be upgraded with new adventures.
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open at Hollywood Studios. This will likely be the biggest draw of the year.

All good changes, but they are unlikely to have a significant impact on the crowds.

What date should you choose?

You’ll have a fantastic time whenever you visit Walt Disney World in 2026. Decide what matters most: lower crowds, festival flavour, seasonal parties, or catching the latest refurbs, and build around that.
