What is Single Rider at Walt Disney World?
Don’t want to pay for Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass? Who can blame you? They are not cheap! Are you happy to ride on your own? Then the Single Rider Line might be your solution. The Single Rider line lets Cast Members fill empty seats with solo riders so vehicles don’t dispatch with gaps.

How does the Single Rider Line work at Walt Disney World?
The Single Rider Line is available at a limited number of attractions. Riders join the clearly signed Single Rider Line, and when a gap becomes available, a Cast Member will fill it with a single rider. However, you will not be seated with your friends and family.
Will it save me time?
The Single Rider Line usually saves time and can be faster than the Lightning Lane. However, it isn’t guaranteed, and there is no control over how many guests enter this line. The Lightning Lane and Standby Line always take priority.
You can’t complain if you spend longer in the Single Rider Line than it would have taken in the Standby Line. This is the risk you take, but usually, it is advantageous. However, there have been reports of people spending three hours in the single rider line! But don’t worry, this usually does not happen.

Will they let me ride with my kids?
No! Single rider means single rider. Your kids will have to ride on their own. Arguing or pleading with a cast member will not achieve anything. If you want to ride with the kids, join Standby Line and wait your turn, like everyone else. Disney’s safety rules also require that children under seven must ride with someone aged 14 or older, so they cannot use Single Rider.
Which attractions offer Single Rider at Walt Disney World?
Walt Disney World has not embraced this as much as other theme parks, e.g., Universal Orlando. Currently, Single Rider is only available for
- Test Track
- Expedition Everest
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (due to be rethemed in 2026)
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
In addition, there are occasional Single Rider options for:
- Avatar Flight of Passage
- Soarin’ Around the World
- Space Mountain
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance(seems to be permanent now, but whether you skip pre-show varies)
In the past, Tower of Terror occasionally had a Single Rider Line, but this hasn’t operated in recent years.

Will the Single Rider line be open?
There are no guarantees. They sometimes close the line early on busy days or towards the end of park hours. However, it can reopen, which I experienced with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster recently.
Should I purchase a Lightning Lane instead of joining the Single Rider Line?
Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass allow access to the quicker Lightning lane, and all your family and friends will ride together. However, it isn’t cheap. Read our Guide to Lightning Lane to learn more.
Things to remember about the Single Rider Line
If using the Single Rider Line, these are things you must remember:
- The whole family can join the line together.
- You will ride on your own, and this includes the kids.
- Height restrictions are still enforced.
- No reservations are possible for the Single Rider line, and it is not guaranteed to be open.
- While it will probably save you time, it isn’t guaranteed.
- You will join a separate line and may miss interactive elements.
