Mrs. Modernlifeisgood is not amused! She thinks she is getting victimized. Every day at Walt Disney World, Mrs. Modernlifeisgood seems to have become a magnet for the Disney security staff. No matter how light her load is or how meticulously she tries to avoid “trigger items,” something always sets off the screening gates. Naturally, this leads to yet another round of additional searches. We’ve even tried carrying most of her stuff, but she still gets stopped.

The list of supposed “offenders” is quite impressive:
- Medicine packets
- Disney pins
- Power bank
- Neck fan
- Zips on her bag
- The wrong type of bag
- Waterproof jacket
- Alcohol hand gel
- Glasses case
- And yes, even her bra straps!
While the rest of us find these daily encounters amusing, Mrs. Modernlifeisgood isn’t exactly laughing. She’s convinced Disney’s overzealous security team is targeting her!

Speaking of Disney Security, things got a little tense at Magic Kingdom yesterday. A balloon popped, triggering a bit of mass hysteria. Two guests had a fight, followed by a loud pop (presumably the balloon), which sent people running in panic. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that there was no shooting, just a case of frayed nerves and an unfortunately timed balloon.

Meanwhile, back at the resort, Auntie Catherine had her own mini-crisis—a frog decided to make her bedroom its temporary home. Auntie Catherine isn’t exactly known for her love of animals… in fact, she’s terrified of most things, especially birds. It turns out frogs are just as bad! Little Miss Modernlifeisgood had to step in as the brave rescuer and safely evicted the little frog from the room.

Regarding frogs, the big new ride this year at Walt Disney World is Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It is actually a retheming of the former Splash Mountain. The main ride structure remains, but new animatronics have been installed. The ride is quite impressive, but it has quite significant reliability issues at the moment.

As for me, I managed to land in the doghouse today for leaving the “Do Not Disturb” sign on our room door. Of course, this meant housekeeping skipped our room entirely. A simple mistake, right? Well, not according to Mrs. Modernlifeisgood, who made it sound like I’m the only person ever to commit such a crime. After some sweet talking, housekeeping returned to save the day.

Finally, I have to give a “special shout-out” to Steve, the most irritating Disney bus driver we’ve ever encountered. Steve, if you’re reading this: “Loved the show, Steve!” Sorry, “the ride!”
