Illumination’s Minion Cafe is a new dining venue at Universal Studios Florida in the park’s new area, Minion Land. Minion Cafe replaces the Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Café, which closed in Spring 2022.

However, don’t expect it to be too long until a new Classic Monsters dining venue opens, as they are expected to become a major component of the new theme park Epic Universe. Minion Cafe is a welcome addition to Universal Studios as it brings an element of zaniness to the park’s dining options.

The minions are your chefs, and they are working hard in the kitchen to bring you some of the most unique food available at Universal Orlando Resort. Walt Disney World has always done themed and unusual dining much better than Universal, but they have really upped their game when creating Minions Cafe.

There are three dining rooms inside Minin Cafe. Guests enter via the Kitchen, where the Minions are making their culinary creations.

Guests can also dine in the Breakroom or the Dining Room. Both areas have unique features. While waiting for your food, it is worth exploring Minion Cafe as the restaurant has a lot of detail.

Minion Cafe is classified as a Quick Service restaurant, but in reality, it is a mix between quick service and table service. However, when we visited the service wasn’t very quick. Guests order and pay for food via the Universal Orlando App. Before you order, you must obtain a table.

Once your food is ready, waiters(rather than minions) bring it to your table. Depending on the dish you order, there might be some special presentation. The food is actually quite good value for money and costs around $16 on average per entree.

Food at Illumination’s Minion Cafe is innovative and looks great fun. The presentation is brilliant and has a scientific-looking flare. However, reviews of the food are fairly mixed online. This isn’t Michelin Star Dining, but we thought it was quite good and would visit again.

Little Miss Modernlifeisgood thought her Otto’s Noodle Bowl was delicious, but this review claimed it was “the most disgusting theme park food we’ve ever eaten.” You will have to taste it yourself and make your own mind up.

Universal Studios has only a few good-quality quick-service restaurants, and Minion Cafe is one of the best. Dishes took some time to arrive, but exploring the cafe while we waited for our food was great fun. Our food was quite tasty and was good value for money in Orlando Theme Park terms.
