Grand Floridian Cafe has been on our radar for many years. It has the unique distinction of being our most canceled Advanced Dining Reservation due to a last-minute change of plan. However, we have eventually been, and it was worth the lengthy wait. It also possibly has my favorite dish in Walt Disney World.

Grand Floridian Cafe is a casual American eatery in Walt Disney’s World’s Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Unlike some of the other restaurants in the Grand Floridian, this is very much a family venue. The Grand Floridian Cafe is open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Breakfast and Lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe is unusual as the same menu is served for both. Disney calls this unusual approach “Blunch.” You will find dishes usually served at breakfast, lunch, or brunch throughout both periods. I would be very interested to know if anyone has ever started the day with Traditional French Onion Soup or Caesar Salad with Shrimp.

The majority of dishes make it on the evening menu as well, but there are a few dishes omitted and several additions. The Grand Breakfast and Avocado Toast are two of the dishes that don’t make the evening menu. Additional dinner selections include NY Strip Steak and Frites and Gnocchi with Red Pepita Pesto. Dishes that are served at different times of day currently do not appear to vary in price.

My new favorite dish is the ‘Al Pastor’ Pork Belly Tacos, which tasted amazing. It is very rare that food brings a smile to my face, but these genuinely did.

The rest of the food was also very good. Most of the dishes were fairly simple but were well-cooked. The number of choices on the menu is large compared to most Disney World menus, but I did think allergy choices were quite limited.
The menu was also quite reasonably priced in “Walt Disney World Terms.” This does mean that when the Disney Dining Plan returns, this is unlikely to represent one of the best value meals for using your tokens. However, if paying out of pocket, it is highly recommended.

Based in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Grand Floridian Cafe is only a short distance from the Magic Kingdom. Grand Floridian Cafe serves better food than most Magic Kingdom Restaurants, is better value for money, and offers a more relaxing environment. It also provides an opportunity to get a short break away from the park.
