I have given Mobility Scooters, or more specifically, the people who abuse them, quite a bit of criticism over the last few years. However, I now have something winding me up even more than Scooters…Strollers!

I have always had some sympathy for strollers/pushchairs at Walt Disney World. From personal experience, I have been in line with a small child as the mobility scooters get priority access. Strollers get forced to be folded up before boarding the bus, and on more than one occasion, I have held a small child while standing on the bus due to the “mobility scooter’s entourage” taking up all the seats. I have never felt it was particularly safe that the parent carrying a child is forced to stand while others take advantage of the seats.
However, my sympathy has worn a little thin over the last week. Strollers are bigger than they used to be and now include everything imaginable, including the “kitchen sink.” They now seem to have an inbuilt car seat, which some parents clip off the stroller and put on the bus seat. However, it does not take just one seat, but two.
In the old days, if you were lucky to get a seat, the child sat on your knee, now parent and child take up three seats. Plus, due to its size, the stroller takes up the standing space on the bus for another two passengers. So two parents and one small child now take up the space of six regular passengers.
To make matters worse, yesterday, one of these vast strollers was with a party with a mobility scooter. Once the mobility scooter had boarded the bus, the stroller and all the associated family members, they had taken up a quarter of the bus before anyone else had boarded.

After last night’s “Sip, Savor, Sparkle,” we had a slower day. This was the first time we had spent any significant time at Hollywood Studios. Last year it was our “must-do” park due to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Hollywood Studios is still probably our favorite park at Walt Disney World, but it doesn’t have the big “wow factor” like last year. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge still looks fantastic, but the rides don’t have a massive repeat appeal. Once you have done the rides, they are fairly similar each time you ride. I suspect Disney will need to consider how to keep the land fresh to attract repeat customers.

The one ride I enjoy more each time is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This fun attraction is one of the most entertaining and clever at Walt Disney World.

Tomorrow we are off to EPCOT, where we will do the “Behind the Seeds Tour” to discover the future of farming.
