We are now at Walt Disney World. What a View from our bedroom balcony. We will discuss how we managed to get this fantastic view in the coming days.

I’m going to start by raising a historical Walt Disney World moan. Being back at Walt Disney World, you suddenly become aware of an army of Electric Scooters, or ECVs as Disney calls them.
ECVs are everywhere, but it is good that Disney caters to guests with mobility issues. However, I have never understood why ECVs should get priority boarding at all Disney Transport. Turn up last minute, and you bypass, plus your extended family, all the other guests patiently waiting in line to board. However, while this is a personal irritation, I have started to note there might be a darker side to ECV use at Disney World.

We have started to note a lot of younger guests are using them. Now, I don’t want to prejudge, but I wonder if they all have genuine mobility issues. Why would they use a scooter if they have no mobility issues?
There are a number of benefits to using a scooter when at Walt Disney World, including priority access to Disney Transport. They are faster than most people can walk, plus you can conserve energy. I’m pretty sure using an ECV means you can explore a park much quicker than a guest on foot.
Perhaps, I am being too judgemental, but I have noticed how quickly they move when they get to the front of the line or visit a buffet. Plus, how can whole families of 30-somethings all suddenly need to use ECVs? Something, does not feel right to me, and I strongly suspect some people are manipulating the rules.

We spent the evening at Extended Evening Hours in The Magic Kingdom. This is a recent benefit for guests staying in Deluxe and other Select Resorts. The Magic Kingdom stays open for an additional 2 hours after it closes for regular guests.

Based on crowds, these hours are extremely popular with guests. While only a limited number of guests could attend, plenty still seemed to be there. This is perhaps unsurprising as over half of Disney’s resorts are in the Deluxe category. However, lines were quieter than during regular hours, and we managed to complete many of the park’s most popular attractions with significantly reduced waiting times.
