“Hello there, ” a bit like Obi-Wan Kenobi; it feels like ModernLifeisGood has been hiding for years. Actually, it hasn’t been quite so long; July 31st was our last post when I celebrated being a “Galactic Hero.” The reasons for our absence have been multiple, but “We are back!”
Developing a travel blog takes a lot of time, and it is amazing how quickly information becomes outdated. Our delays in getting restarted on ModernLifeisGood have been linked to the fear of the challenge of getting this site back to being a definitive guide for visiting Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. We are now ready for the challenge and will soon update all the main pages on ModernLifeisGood. However, please keep with us as we know many things need updating, but we will work fast to get everything sorted.
As a starting point, as we rediscover how to run this blog, we thought it would be interesting to highlight how we did in 2022. Yes, the borders to the United States reopened, and we eventually visited Walt Disney World. We create a must-do list for our Walt Disney World Vacation each year, but how did we do in our 2022 Must-Do list?

Visit Tom Sawyer Island
After many years of having it down as a must-do when we visited Walt Disney World, we eventually visited Tom Sawyer Island. We had quite an enjoyable couple of hours exploring the island, including its many cave, bridges, and fort.
Would we revisit Tom Sawyer Island this year?
Probably not, but an occasional visit certainly is something to consider.
Here are some photographs to prove we have visited the island.

Complete the Disney’s Four Park Challenge
We failed the challenge!
The rules of the challenge do vary but generally consist of the following:
- Visit all four parks in one day.
- A photo at the park entrance.
- 1-2 rides at each park.
- Meet a character at each park.
- Have a snack at each park.
The new Park Hopping rules do make this challenge reasonably tricky to complete. You can’t change parks until 2 pm, which presents some reasonably significant challenges in visiting the other three parks. There are rumors that Park Hopping hours rules will change, so hopefully, the Four Park Challenge will become easier.

Ride a new attraction.
Due to border closures, a lot had changed since we were last at Walt Disney World. Several new attractions had opened, including Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We rode all the latest attractions, and they were all fantastic. However, which was our favorite?
This is a tough call, but surprisingly they aren’t any of the attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We are tempted to go for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which is very good. However, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the best new attraction. We smiled and laughed throughout the whole ride, it really is the best attraction at Walt Disney World.

Ride Old Walt Disney World Favorites!
This was quickly ticked off, including our last opportunity to ride the original Splash Mountain.

Enjoy the 50th birthday celebrations
The biggest celebration was being back at Walt Disney World. I didn’t think the 50th celebrations were that great. However, finding the Fab 50 Character Collection statues was quite good fun. I think we did find most of them.

We are back! Now let’s focus on 2023
Well, that belatedly finishes our 2022 Walt Disney World Adventures. Now let’s start the 2023 planning.
We promise it won’t be as long until we say “Hello there” again.
