On day 4 at Universal Orlando Resort, we spent the day touring the theme parks, although, on three occasions, our day was interrupted by medical emergencies. The sun was shining, and a more extensive crowd was in the park. Highlights of day 4 were dinner at BiCE and a late-night ride on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.
We intended to start the day on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. However, Universal’s most popular attraction spent most of the day not operating due to a maintenance issue. Hagrid’s is notorious for reliability issues and has regular downtime during the week and inclement weather breaks.
The hot weather appeared to bring on various medical emergencies during the day. However, we were delayed and eventually evacuated from Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges after someone stood up on the ride and failed to sit back down. It took a long time to evacuate the entire ride, which had to be drained first. Once drained, it was interesting to see how shallow the water is on Orlando’s wettest and roughest raft ride.
BiCE offers “Northern Italian cuisine and superb service in an elegant atmosphere.” The Italian restaurant at Loews Portofino Bay Resort is arguably the premier dining venue at Universal Orlando Resort. Yesterday, we ate at The Cholocate Emporium, and getting more contrasting meals would not be easy. Both meals were excellent, but BiCE was a premium, although expensive, experience.
After dinner, we returned to Islands of Adventure for a late-night exploration. Hagrid’s Magical Motorbike Adventure was up and running after being closed most of the day. Also, it had a relatively short wait, 80 minutes instead of the often 300+ minutes!
Hagrid’s Magical Motorbike Adventure is the longest rollercoaster in Florida. It has seven launches, reaching a top speed of 50 miles per hour. The ride also features a 17-foot vertical drop and a long backward drop. The ride is exceptionally popular, but it continues to have chronic reliability issues. However, if you successfully ride Hagrid’s Magical Motorbike Adventure, you can’t beat the experience.
Tomorrow is our final day at Universal Orlando Resort before we head to Walt Disney World. You can follow the rest of our Orlando Live 2022 posts here.
