As we approach the end of another year, it is time to look at what our Walt Disney World Must-Dos are for the coming year. Every year we consider what our must-dos are when we next visit Walt Disney World, and this year is no exception. However, due to various border restrictions, our 2021 must-dos remain unfulfilled. This coming year appears more positive, and we are confident we will achieve our Top 5 Walt Disney World Must-Dos for 2022.

Visit Tom Sawyer Island
This year’s list isn’t just a rehash of last year’s list. However, I am going to continue saying I will visit Tom Sawyer Island.
I have never actually visited Tom Sawyer Island. Every year it is on my list of things we must do when visiting the Magic Kingdom, but we never seem to get time.
However, I feel confident 2022 will be the year I will eventually visit Tom Sawyer Island.
Complete the Disney’s Four Park Challenge
Previously we attempted to complete the Ultimate Resort Hopping Challenge. Although we managed to achieve more resorts than our previous attempt, we failed miserably. Unfortunately, our Resort Hopping Challenge has not taken off, partly because it is impossible. However, we do challenge you to have a go.
A more popular pursuit had become Disney’s Four Park Challenge. The rules of the challenge do vary but generally consist of:
- A photo at the park entrance.
- 1-2 rides at each park.
- Meet a character at each park.
- Have a snack at each park
It certainly seems more straightforward than the Resort Hopping Challenge, but still great fun. Current Park Hopping Rules have made this considerably more difficult, but we think we can still do it by using Extended Evening Theme Park Hours!

Ride a new attraction
A lot has changed since we were last at Walt Disney World. Several new attractions have opened, but it is perhaps the big new attraction for Summer 2022 we are looking forward to most.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT will eventually open in Summer 2022 in the new World Discovery Neighbourhood. It will be one of the longest fully enclosed coasters globally and will inevitably be the most popular attraction at Walt Disney World. Expect long waits unless you pay for the inevitable a la carte Lightning Lane.
This indoor coaster will offer several firsts:
The first coaster attraction at EPCOT.
The first reverse launch for a Disney coaster.
The first Walt Disney World attraction to feature the Guardians of the Galaxy.

I have a feeling we might have to pay for the Lightning Lane.

Ride Old Walt Disney World Favorites!
Not being able to visit Walt Disney World has made me miss old favorites. Perhaps 2022 is the time to get reacquainted with attractions I usually skip? After all, we don’t know which attractions might be removed from the park in the future.
While “Absence does make the heart feel fonder,” I’m not sure it extends to the Country Bear Jamboree.
Enjoy the 50th birthday celebrations
Returning to Walt Disney World is all about having fun. Walt Disney World loves a celebration and an excuse to have a party. Walt Disney World is currently celebrating its 50th birthday, called“The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” The festivities started on October 1st and will run for 18 months, and we can’t wait to celebrate!
Several new attractions and shows have already opened, and expect further surprises throughout 2022.
