No face masks outside; could the return of fireworks be next?

May 15, 2021 by @Modlifeisgood Leave a Comment

Last week we discussed the removal of temperature checks at Walt Disney World and other Orlando parks. At the time, we wondered whether face masks could be next. However, we never expected they would be gone already. However, you should note this is outside only at this time. The next big question is whether fireworks could be next to return? We feel July 4th might see the start of some of the Walt Disney World nighttime shows.

In addition to removing the requirement to wear masks outdoors, Disney is beginning to reduce physical distancing. The 6-foot distance is slowly being changed to 3-foot, including at the recently reopened Festival of the Lion King. However, the 6-foot requirement remains in stores, dining locations, and other places where all guests can remove masks.

Disney has created this handy table highlighting where you currently need to wear a mask:

The reduced physical distancing has brought an additional change; increased Park Pass availability. Parks that were previously full for May and June have availability again. Inevitably this will lead to increased crowds, but there are rumors of further attractions reopening soon. Top of this list is Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor and Turtle Talk with Crush.

This is all great news, but can we expect more? Bigger crowds will need better crowd management, and we expect rumors of FastPass+ returning for July will increase. However, we still feel Disney might delay FastPass and replace it with something new later this year. Perhaps, they will be tempted in the interim to hold some big-bucks After Hour events? However, what about nighttime shows?

We never expected EPCOT Forever to return, but rehearsals have been heard recently. Could a summer return be on the cards? We expect July will be the next big change at Walt Disney World; expect more attractions, more guests, and perhaps a firework or two!

Epcot Forever could it return in July?
