Modern Life is Good didn’t become the World’s Number 51 Disney Blog for nothing! We have a history of bringing you absolutely no exclusives, but we try and collate the latest Walt Disney World News & Rumors. It’s a Small World moving to Epcot is completely made up, but it does seem a brilliant idea.

It’s a Small World wasn’t always located in Fantasyland. The attraction made its debut at the 1964 New York World Fair. Since then, versions have opened at 5 Disney Parks around the world, but always located in Fantasyland. However, in the current Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, It’s a Small World is a bit of an oddity. It is the only attraction that isn’t based on Disney film property. However, there have been rumors of a film based on the attraction for many years.
Now, when I came up with the ridiculous suggestion of moving It’s a Small World to Epcot, I thought I would be the first person to come up with it. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I am not the first person to come up with the idea. Perhaps it is because the idea does have some merit?
Not only does the attraction not really fit with Fantasyland, but the show building takes up considerable space. Google Maps shows, there is significant expansion land located behind the attraction. Disney might not be in the mood for big expansions at this time, but surely this would be a brilliant site for New Fantasyland Phase 2? I believe you could get 2-3 new attractions on this footprint. If you could move the attraction, why wouldn’t you use this land?
The World Showcase feels a much better fit for It’s a Small World. Our friends who previously suggested this move thought the attraction could move into either the American Adventure pavilion or the Odyssey Events Pavilion. However, I have a much cheaper suggestion. Why don’t they relocate the attraction to the Mexico Pavilion? Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros has been rumored for an update for many years, and It’s a Small World could be the ideal choice.
Some retheming would be needed, crowd management might be difficult, and the location might seem a little odd, but a new family attraction could be placed in Epcot at a minimal cost. The attraction would also be around 2 minutes shorter than the current It’s a Small World, which means the annoying tune is less likely to stick in your head all day.
Obviously this is never going to happen, but I think It’s a Small World moving to Epcot is a brilliant idea.
