It has been challenging to maintain a Travel Blog during the last six months. Lockdown and the ban on foreign travel have meant the postponement of our planned annual adventures. Despite this, we have had a summer full of adventures, but I have struggled to find the motivation to write about them. However, that has now changed as I have discovered Dole Whips in the U.K.

I started Modern Life is Good four years ago. I was interested in finding a new hobby and was intrigued by the ability of blogs to influence. When I started, I didn’t have any grand plans for the blog, but over four years, it has gradually grown.
My initial plan was to write about random thoughts and experiences. In one of my first posts, I wrote about the rather bizarre National Fluffernutter Day. I was incredibly proud of the post, but nobody read it!
However, I remained interested in my new hobby and started to develop the blog around family travel. As the blog further developed, this focused primarily on Orlando and Cruise Vacations. Eventually, I started concentrating on Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. We obviously must have been doing something right as the blog continued to grow, and in January this year, we had over 100,000 page views. 2020 appeared to be a big year for Modern Life is Good. I suspect you know the rest of the story……
Unsurprisingly, in March, traffic to Modern Life is Good plummeted, and there wasn’t much to blog about. The world had dramatically changed, Walt Disney World was closed, cruising had ceased, and international travel was virtually banned.

Yes, we wrote a few lockdown quizzes, but there are only so many you can do. Also, I wrote about my attempts of trying to rearrange my Summer Orlando Vacation, but now even my rearranged October Vacation is likely canceled. I even added a few posts on the reopening of Walt Disney World and rewrote my Beginners Guide to Walt Disney World. However, with so many changes, the content I wrote over the last four years felt irrelevant. Unfortunately, I soon lost the motivation to start again and stopped adding to this travel blog.
July 4th was a big day in the U.k. While the U.S. was celebrating Independence Day, the first tiny steps out of lockdown were happening. The big news was that many United Kingdom hotels and parks were able to start reopening. The world was still different, but it felt a little bit more normal. We took the opportunity to vacation in the U.K. and have enjoyed a sensational summer:
- A lodge vacation in a forest
- Staying in perhaps the best self-catering accommodation in the U.K.
- A home music festival
- Camping overnight at a zoo.

Fantastic adventures full of great stories, but I have continued to struggle to find the motivation to write this blog.
However, on our latest trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, I have found motivation. I have found Dole Whips in the U.K.!
Yes, the original pineapple soft serve made famous at Disney Parks can be bought at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, and better still, they have a rum version. Eventually, in a year of change, I have something to write.

I feel motivated and ready to share our recent adventures. Modern Life is Good is reborn. Let the Adventures Begin.
