Walt Disney World to Close

March 13, 2020 by @Modlifeisgood Leave a Comment

Walt Disney World is to temporarily close due to the Covid-19 pandemic from March 16th. In addition, it has been announced that Disneyland Paris will close and all sailings from Saturday onwards on Disney Cruise Line have been canceled. The news follows the announcement earlier today that Disneyland California will close. Following the close of business at Walt Disney World on March 16th there will be no Disney Park open anywhere in the world.

Earlier today it was announced that Disneyland California was to temporarily close due to Covid-19 with effect from the morning of March 14th. Hotels will stay open until March 16th.

It has just been announced that Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris will also close from the close of business on Sunday, March 15th. All parks will close at both resorts. However, we understand Disney Springs and Disney Village will continue to operate at this time. Currently, the closure of all resorts is timetabled until the end of the month but is likely to be reassessed as we approach April.

At the moment there is no closure planned for any of the resorts at either Walt Disney World or Disneyland Paris.

From 16th March there will be no Disney Park open anywhere in the world. In addition, it has been announced that all new departures with the Disney Cruise Line starting Saturday through the end of the month will be canceled.

While this will be devastating news for many guests upcoming vacations, we appreciate that public safety must come first. We are pleased to note that Disney has already stated that all staff will be paid during the period of closure. Unfortunately, we suspect these prolonged closures might delay or lead to postponement of some of the construction projects planned at Disney Parks.

We will bring you more news about the closure of the resorts over the coming days.
