What you can’t get for a birthday at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is a great place to celebrate birthdays, but there is one thing you will want to bring with you.

Surprisingly, birthday cards are sold in very few locations at Walt Disney World, and we have never seen a Disney themed one for sale. While outside of the Resort, Disney themed cards are commonplace it seems they have not transferred to their own shops including the World of Disney.

Tell everyone it is your birthday!

It never hurts to advise Disney that you will be celebrating a birthday. Make sure you let your resort know when making your reservation and restaurants when booking Advance Dining Reservations. Remind your resort about the family celebration on check-in if they don’t mention it.

Unfortunately, there are no guarantees on whether you will receive any birthday gifts or benefits.

Celebration Buttons at Walt Disney World

Celebration Buttons are not just for guests celebrating birthdays, but if it is your birthday you must collect one.

Whether it is a birthday or just your first visit, a celebration button will let everyone know. Disney Cast Members will even pay you individual attention. There are no guarantees of what you might experience but unique character interactions, birthday cards, a free FastPass and various freebies are things we have received in the past.

The following buttons are currently available:

  • Happy Birthday
  • Happily Ever After
  • 1st Visit
  • I’m Celebrating:

To collect a celebration button visit Guest Services or your Disney Resort reception.

Gifts and Flowers at Walt Disney World

If you are celebrating while at Walt Disney World, or you want to arrange something on behalf of someone who is visiting, you can order gifts in advance. The gift options at Walt Disney World are impressive, but they are not cheap.

If you are looking to arrange flowers or a gift to be delivered to your resort, visit Disney Floral and Gifts, the online Walt Disney World gift shop.

Birthday Cakes at Walt Disney World

There are several options to obtain a birthday cake at Walt Disney World

Birthday Cakes at Restaurants in Walt Disney World

The majority of restaurants do have Mickey Mouse Celebration cakes available at the podium. However, you are advised to order in advance by adding to your Advance Dining Reservation. Also, you can call (407) 939-3463 or speak to your resort concierge to order a cake.

Usually, there is a choice of chocolate or white chocolate cakes available. Unfortunately, these cakes contain gluten, wheat, soy, milk, and eggs.

Not all restaurants at Walt Disney World are owned by Disney. Cake options will differ in these restaurants, and it would be worth checking with the restaurant in advance of your visit.
