What is a MagicBand?
It is a rubber band that goes on your wrist which contains Magic!

Magic! Really?
Not quite, but they are brilliant.
MagicBands contain a whole host of information about your stay. A built-in Radio Frequency Identification Chip provides the technical stuff.
You can use MagicBands to:
- Unlock the door of your Disney Resort hotel room.
- As your park tickets to enter theme parks and water parks.
- Check-in at FastPass+ entrances.
- Manage your Disney Dining Plan & dining reservations
- Connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account.
- To charge to your Disney resort room.
In fact, MagicBands pretty much control your entire Walt Disney World Vacation.
Anything else to know about MagicBands?
MagicBands do a lot more, and experiences are expanding all the time. Your ride photographs and videos are automatically linked to your MagicBand, and you can see them on the App later in the day. You take the ride, and the MagicBand does the rest.
MagicBands have added new experiences to many attractions throughout the parks. We won’t discuss them here as it ruins the surprise.

Are MagicBands secure?

How do I get a MagicBand?
If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you get a MagicBand for free. In advance of your visit, you can pick your color on the Disney website. These will be shipped to your home address, in the US only, or can be picked up at your resort reception.
Guests not staying at a Disney Resort can buy a band in advance of their visit at shopDisney or when they arrive at many Walt Disney World shops.
Can I upgrade my free resort MagicBand?
MagicBands were introduced to Walt Disney World in 2014, and all guests who have a resort reservation have the option to choose a complementary solid colored band. However, in 2019 this changed when MagicBand upgrades became available.
When the upgrade program was introduced, guests could choose to upgrade to one of thirty designs for a price of just $10. Unfortunately, the offer was considerably more popular than anticipated, and stock regularly ran out.
Upgraded MagicBands continue to be in high demand and regularly run out. However, there usually are some designs available to choose from. Bands now cost between $10-$20, which still represents a saving on park prices. New designs are added regularly.

Limited-edition MagicBands
MagicBands have now become collectible, and there are regular limited-editions released. Often, these unique bands provide additional surprises when you use them at touchpoints.
Do I need a MagicBand?
Not at all you can still use a traditional ticket for your park entry and FastPass+, but you will miss out on further interactions.
