Why I was wrong, Mobile Ordering is Brilliant!

Recently many locations at Walt Disney World have started to allow you to order your food ahead of your visit. You can arrange Mobile Ordering using the My Disney Experience App, at an increasing number of quick-service & snack locations.

I was never convinced about Mobile Ordering at Walt Disney World when it first came out. I couldn’t see how it really saved you any time; I was wrong.

The idea is simple, via the My Disney Experience App you can order your food, and prepay using the Disney Dining Plan or a stored credit card. Once you get to your restaurant, hit the “I’m here” button, and you will be notified where to collect your order.

However, I couldn’t see how it saved you time. After all, you still have to order your food, visit the restaurant, and wait to collect your food. Surely a Cast Member who is familiar with the menu is quicker than using the My Disney Experience App?

Initially, it seemed my negative opinion was correct. I attempted several orders, but it never quite worked. Eventually, I realized this was due to using an out of date version of the My Disney Experience App. Once the app was updated, my opinion soon changed.

Mobile Ordering is Brilliant! and it saves you a lot of time.

The app is much easier than ordering your food via a Cast Member. Each dish is explained in detail, and it is simple to make changes. Even the majority of allergy choices can be selected easily through Mobile Ordering.

Payment is simple either using the Disney Dining Plan or a stored credit card. Once you get to the restaurant, find a seat, and then hit the “I’m here” button. You will be notified, via the App where to collect your order, and we have never waited more than a couple of minutes. Waiting times are usually even shorter than those who have just placed their order at the till.

Mobile Ordering is that simple, and it saves you a lot of time. Mobile Ordering at Walt Disney World has gradually been getting rolled out to the majority of quick-service locations and is even available at some snack locations. Surprisingly most guests are either not aware of the service or choose to order through the traditional route.
