This week on Modern Life is Good we are discussing what we love & hate at Walt Disney World. Today it is the turn of our Animal Kingdom Likes & Dislikes. If you have followed this blog, previously you will be aware that we love the Animal Kingdom and one particular ride.

Our Animal Kingdom Likes
Flight of Passage
For the first time this week there was a unanimous first choice. The whole of the Modern Life is Good family chose Flight of Passage as our favorite attraction.
Pandora – The World of Avatar opened to the public in May 2017. The area is believed to have cost in the region of $500 million. It is inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar which remains the highest grossing film of all time.
The Land features Pandora’s wildlife, plants and alien wildlife. Unlike all other themed lands in Disney Parks, Disney Branded merchandise and Mickey Mouse images have been omitted. It does feel like you have entered another world!
Pandora contains 2 main attractions Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. While both attractions are great fun Flight of Passage is our number one.
On Flight of Passage, guests take a flight on a Banshee across Pandora. This 3D simulator is unbelievable and has raised the bar on theme park experiences. It does get better the more times you ride and you should not miss it.
Waits for Flight of Passage are long, but it is an attraction you should not skip. You should aim to obtain a Fastpass. If you can’t get a Fastpass, get in the standby line, you will regret it if you don’t!

2nd Choice
It is hard to give a second choice attraction as there are so many fantastic rides at Animal Kingdom. However, we all love Dinosaur & Kali River Rapids.
On Dinosaur, you are on a mission to collect an Iguanodon before a meteor hits the earth. Fast, bumpy, dark & scary this is a truly multi-sensory experience.
Kali River Rapids is a fantastic family raft ride. Make sure you store your belongings in the free lockers before you ride as you will get wet. This ride will close during afternoon storms so try and ride early in the day.

Our Animal Kingdom Dislikes
It’s Tough to Be a Bug!
It’s Tough to Be a Bug! was Mrs Modernlifeisgood’s choice. I don’t think she particularly dislikes the attraction, but there are so many better attractions in the park.
Tough to Be a Bug is a 4D adventure starring the cast from A Bug’s Life. The attraction is located inside the Tree of Life. Young children often find it too scary and it probably isn’t suitable for under-5s. 4D films do feel a bit dated however in 2019.

Chester and Hester’s Dinorama
The awful tacky Chester and Hester’s Dinorama provided 2 of our park dislikes. Chester and Hester’s Dinorama feels out of place in the otherwise stunning Animal Kingdom park and unfortunately the rides don’t save it either.
Triceratops Spin was my choice. Triceratops Spin is a Dumbo-like ride on a triceratops. However, it isn’t Dumbo and is immediately forgettable.
Primeval Whirl was Miss Modernlifeisgood’s(age 15) choice. In my opinion, this spinning coaster if it had better theming would be actually a fairly good ride.
However, in Miss Modernlifeisgood’s opinion, you should skip it. “It is Hull Fair Quality and should not be in Walt Disney World” is her opinion.

None of them!
Little Miss Modernlifeisgood’s(age 8) announced: “I love them all!” You can’t get a better endorsement of Animal Kingdom than that. The Animal Kingdom is a fantastic park, and even when it is a bit rubbish, it is still great. You will love it.
