5 Attractions to Skip at The Magic Kingdom

January 6, 2019 by @Modlifeisgood 10 Comments

The Magic Kingdom is the most popular theme park in the world. It has some fantastic attractions. However; not all the attractions are the same. If you are only there for a day, it is unlikely you will manage to do everything. Here are 5 Attractions to Skip at The Magic Kingdom if you have limited time.

Attractions to Skip at the Magic Kingdom

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

Live video animation is very clever, but this show is a bit dull. Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot is a similar idea but much more entertaining.

You will not dislike Monsters, In. Laugh Floor but you will not remember much about it.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

There is nothing wrong with this ride but is it better than Dumbo or AstroOrbiter? If you are short on time I would skip it.

Country Bear Jamboree

A place to escape the heat is the main positive of this audio-animatronic show. Featuring a selection of dancing & singing bears.

It is a Classic Disney attraction but so was Mr Toad’s Wild Ride. It is dated and there are better classic attractions remaining.

Mickey’s PhilarMagic

Mickey’s PhilarMagic is a 4D Film in Fantasyland but better 4D films exist elsewhere. The film is quite blurry and the special effects are very limited. I recently visited Disneyland Paris and their new version of Philarmagic is much clearer.

However; kids do enjoy the show, there rarely is a wait and the theatre is cool. If time in Disney World is short Muppets 4D & It’s Tough to Be a Bug are all better 4D options.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

I thought I would make my last choice a little controversial. Easier and less controversial choices would have included Hall of Presidents & The Enchanted Tiki Room.

I know most people love this ride, but I find it very underwhelming. Mrs Modernlifeisgood love Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and the regular long lines suggest everybody else does too.

However; I have never got Buzz Lightyear. I’m rubbish at it and I find it a bit daft. Also, the laser guns are better in the Paris version which adds to the overall disappointment of The Magic Kingdom version.

I would never miss it if I never rode again & it tops my list of Attractions to Skip at The Magic Kingdom.

Country Bear Jamboree, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Buzz Lightyear are some of our favorite rides at Magic Kingdom. Buzz Lightyear always has a long line, so I guess a lot of people agree with me, at least on that one!! Please, don’t skip these fun light hearted classics!

Tiki room is a not-to-be-missed classic! Besides you can now take your Dole Whip inside with you. ?

Going to disagree with you here.
      Classic…yes
not-to-be-missed…easily missed in my opinion 🙂

I don’t know about your choices . I felt I needed to leave a comment so people don’t miss out on some of the rides you actually listed! I have 2 boys and I’m sorry but the buzz light year ride was there absolute number one ! If you have kids that love nerf guns grab a fast pass for this definitely ! And Disney’s philarmagic was great as well! We didn’t find it blurry. My kids laughed and had a great time ! Especially if you need to cool off or get out of the rain.

You need to experience Philarmagic in Paris to understand how blurry & poor quality the Disney World film really is. However, the special effects are done much better in Disney World compared Paris

I have been going to Disney my whole life (I’m 44) and I would agree with all your picks including Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger. I like the ride itself and appreciate that it’s a interactive ride but the lazer accuracy is terrible, the ride is much better when it’s called Toy Story Mania over in Hollywood Studios.
I would add The Tomorrowland Speedway to your list of skip it rides. Yes, I know it’s a classic but aren’t they all at this point? I’ve been saying for years they need to take the cars and update them to Cars (Lightning McQenn, Doc Hudson Sally, etc) make it a little more fresh.

I’ve been 5 or 6 times at WDW and as a foreigner I consider it enogh experience to agree 100% with this article. If you can go every a few years and have plenty of time there I get that they are nice to do attractions but this article clearly states the condition “if this is your only single day” which for most foreigners is a likely possibility. I would also add peter pans flight… again… a classic, but having so many other attractions to do, queueing +40mins for a ride where you can see the outdated mechanics behind the scenery in a day where so many other thrilling experiences can occur, IMHO is a waste of time.
    Thanks for the article

Interesting thoughts on Peter Pan. I think it has to be a FastPass or nothing. Long lines and one of the most boring lines too. Although I do think if you can get a FastPass it is worth experiencing
