We all make mistakes on vacation. Tackling the World’s largest theme park on vacation is no easy task. It is easy to make plenty of mistakes if you are visiting the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully most mistakes do not mean our vacation is ruined but they can mean we do not enjoy our day as much as we should. You attempt to do the Magic Kingdom in 1 day.
The Magic Kingdom is a massive theme park with lots of attractions
If you have time visit on 2 or even 3 days. This will also make your Fastpass+ strategy easier

Don’t even consider entering a Walt Disney World Park in 2018 without access to Wi-Fi.
Not having a Magic Kingdom Fastpass Strategy
Visiting Disney World now requires a Fastpass strategy. Fastpass+ is Disney’s attraction reservation system. Fastpass+ allows you to book attractions in advance of your visit. Guests not having a Fastpass have to join a longer standby line.

Not bringing park essentials
Make a list of what you need e.g. camera, phone, autograph book, poncho. Make sure you don’t forget the sunscreen & a good hat. Plus you will need access to plenty of water.
Pack your bag the night before. Remember to not take too much as you will be carrying it all day.
You arrive after Extra Magic Hours
Arriving after Extra Magic Hours is a big mistake. The park will be busy and queues will be long.
If you are not staying at a Disney Resort don’t attend if possible on Extra Magic Hours days. If you are staying at a Disney Resort don’t arrive late.
Not having a break.
Don’t underestimate how much there is to do in the Magic Kingdom. Plus the Florida heat can be unforgiving. It is easy to burn-out if you are not careful. Take your time & plan to have plenty of breaks.
Many people will take a break during the mid-afternoon when the park is at its busiest and hottest. Consider returning to your hotel for a few hours.

Not checking park opening times.
Park opening times vary daily throughout the year. If you are visiting between late August & December, there will be Halloween or Christmas Parties in The Magic Kingdom on select dates.
Parks will close early on these dates for guests without party tickets. Make sure you check before you visit.
Visiting on major holidays
Unfortunately, due to annual leave, this might be unavoidable. However, if you can avoid it don’t visit the Magic Kingdom during major holidays. While all of Walt Disney World will be crowded the Magic Kingdom does attract the largest crowds.
