Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is open for breakfast, brunch & dinner. Guests will meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy & Pluto as they eat. It is one of the hardest meals to book an Advanced Dining Reservation for at Walt Disney World. The restaurant is loud, bright and serves fairly basic food. Kids will love it but Chef Mickey’s is not the venue for a quiet romantic meal. Our review of Chef Mickey’s includes photographs and video footage.
You don’t usually attend Walt Disney World Character meals for the food and apart from 1 or 2 examples, the food is usually average at best. While quality of food might not be the best at Chef Mickey’s there is certainly no lack of quantity available. The star attraction for dinner, in my opinion, is the desserts and especially the sundae bar.
During breakfast, a typical Disney Breakfast is served but remember breakfast is not the best value when using dining plans. However; price wise Dinner represents a good use of a Dining Plan credit. Whether the meal is good value if paid out-of-pocket is open to debate.

The main event is the appearance of the fab five without the need for long lines or having to get a Fastpass. You will be met by Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald and of course Mickey Mouse. Interactions are brief but are good fun. Characters will pose for photos and sign autographs before heading off to the next table. Chef Mickey’s is really a kid’s venue and kids love it! Most adults will also enjoy the fun as well.
During the meal, there will probably be an interruption for a song & dance with Mickey & pals. Get your napkins ready and be ready to wave them in the air. Chef Mickey’s is loud…very loud!… and is not the chance for a quiet escape.

The Disney Dining Plan is accepted at Chef Mickey’s and costs 1 Table Service Credit. Overall this meal represents reasonable value on the Disney Dining Plan. Allergies are catered for and a chef will show you round the buffet if requested. Advance Dining Reservations are essential and should be booked as close to reservation opening as possible.
Our video of Chef Mickey’s includes a look at the buffet, restaurant & character interactions.
Final Thoughts on Chef Mickey’s
It is hard to recommend Chef Mickey’s for the food. The food is pretty basic but will suit fussy eaters. However, if you want to meet Mickey & Pals it is an efficient, but not cheap, way of achieving this.
Chef Mickey’s is usually one of Sophie’s top picks when planning Disney World Dining. When we draw up our list it is usually at the bottom!
Chef Mickey’s is certainly a restaurant for the kids.

Great tips! We had one character dining experience last time. You’re right, it’s about the experience not the food! However for the price I think they could work on that.
