Disney’s Old Key West Resort opened on December 20, 1991. It was the very first Disney Vacation Club timeshare property and was initially called Disney’s Vacation Club Resort. The current name was introduced in 1996.
The resort contains 761 units in a Key West setting. Accommodation options include deluxe studios, one- and two-bedroom homes and two-story, three-bedroom Grand Villas that sleep up to 12. Rooms are larger than at other DVC properties.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is massive and the villas are located along the waterways & The Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. There are 4 swimming pools in the resort & 5 bus stops. The largest pool the Sandcastle Pool is located near the Hospitality House.

Guests who are not located near the Hospitality House might feel a little isolated as the majority of recreation activities are in this area. Facilities at Disney’s Old Key West Include:-

Food & Drink at Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Old Key West does not have the best choice of dining locations at Walt Disney World. It does not have a large indoor food court but relies mainly on outdoor seating.
- Olivia’s Café is the only table service location at the resort. It serves good quality, unimaginative food.
- Good’s Food to Go is the main quick service site but does not have an extensive menu.
- Turtle Shack Poolside Snacks is a smaller Quick Service located by the Turtle Pond Pool.
- Gurgling Suitcase is the resort bar. It is a nice little bar but only has a couple of inside tables.
- Pizza delivery is available at this resort.

Our Opinion on Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is one of the most beautiful properties at Walt Disney World. The grounds are magnificent and walking through the resort is a delight. However, the resort is massive and getting anywhere is not easy. The accommodation is some of the best at Walt Disney World and Villas are larger than you will find in other resorts.
The lack of facilities which other Disney Resorts offer is a problem. The resort would benefit from a proper indoor Quick Service & the bar is far too small.
If you want a quiet resort, with good accommodation and are happy to not have easy access to all resort facilities then you will love Disney’s Old Key West Resort.
In our opinion Disney’s Old Key West will be perfect for many guests but it isn’t a resort everyone will enjoy.
