Coming Soon to Hollywood Studios

Currently, it is the World’s Biggest Building Site but soon Hollywood Studios will be full of fantastic new attractions. The recently opened Toy Story Land is the first of several new attractions at Hollywood Studios. Here are all the confirmed Hollywood Studios Updates coming soon to Hollywood Studios. In addition, we also include all the latest Hollywood Studios rumours.

Gone Already!

Rather than starting with the new developments lets highlight what we have said goodbye to over the last few months at Hollywood Studios.

The Jawas have left Star Wars Launch Bay. The Jawas were one of the most fun & innovative meet and greets. Hopefully, they will return at a later date.

The Great Movie Ride has closed. It clearly needed an update and the TCM overlay did not work well but it will be missed by many.

Disney Junior- Live on Stage closed at the end of Summer 2018. A new showed Disney Junior Dance Party! will be replacing it soon(details below).

Pixar Place has now been boarded up. This area became redundant with the opening of Toy Story Land. However, it does create a guest flow blockage within the park. No details have been released yet on anything new happening in this area.

Already Here

Streets of America & Muppet Courtyard has become Grand Avenue. The area resembles present-day Downtown Los Angeles. In the former Writer’s Stop a new venue Baseline Tap House has opened. This new pub serves Californian wines and beers.

The opening of Toy Story Land was the biggest event at Walt Disney World in 2018. The land brought 2 new rides and a new eatery. You can read more  in our Toy Story Land review.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Taking the place of The Great Movie Ride in the Chinese Theatre this will be the first attraction to star Mickey Mouse. The attraction is expected to open in 2019. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will make guests part of a Mickey Mouse short. Disney is promising new technology for the attraction which will offer a 3D experience without the need for glasses.

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge

Opening at both Disneyland and Hollywood Studios in 2019 is Star Wars: Galaxy Edge. Guests will visit the village Black Spire’s Outpost. Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is described as being an interactive and immersive experience like stepping into another planet. That new plant has been confirmed as being Batuu and guests will visit a village called Black Spire’s Outpost. Let us hope it achieves the same high standards as Pandora.

There will be 2 big new attractions at Star Wars: Galaxy Edge although details are still relatively sparse:

• In the first, you will pilot the Millennium Falcon on a mission
• In the second you will be on a Star Destroyer’s hangar bay in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and First Order. Disney is promising this attraction will be “built on a scale we’ve never done before”.

Guests will find themselves in the middle of the action throughout their journey and will meet many familiar people on their way.

There will even be a Catina called Olga’s Cantina where guests can try blue milk.

If you want the complete Star Wars Experience a new Star Wars Resort has also been confirmed. The new resort will seamlessly connect with Galaxy edge and is getting built on land next to Hollywood Studios.

Disney Junior Dance Party

Disney Junior – Live on Stage has needed an update for some time. A new show will be opening in fall 2018 with the introduction of the new Disney Junior Dance Party. Guests will join Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, Timon and Mickey for a high-energy musical celebration.

Hollywood Studios Rumours

There are various Hollywood Studios rumours about further changes to the park. However, currently, there are no further major construction works confirmed at Hollywood Studios. One Hollywood Studio Rumour which has been confirmed to not be happening is a park name change. Whilst Disney had considered changing the name of the park it is no longer happening in the immediate future.

• Voyage of the Little Mermaid
