The purpose of this trip to Walt Disney World was to celebrate Auntie Catherine’s 40th Birthday. Today was the day and we had a fantastic day starting at the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast, then visiting the Magic Kingdom, dinner at Artist Point in Wilderness Lodge before finishing the day back at the Magic Kingdom for Extra Magic Hours.
Our day started early travelling to the Grand Floridian for the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast. Auntie Catherine was ready early dressed as a Christmas Tree for her day of celebrations.

Supercalifragilistic Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare is an outstanding Character Meal. I am not a great fan of Disney World Breakfasts but this is a good meal. There is a fantastic selection of hot and cold items on a self-serve buffet. Eggs are cooked to order.

The Characters we met were Mary Poppins, The Mad Hatter, Winnie the Pooh & Alice. All characters stopped at the table for a reasonable length of time and provided good interactions. Tigger met guests as you left the venue and was accompanied by an official photographer.

The Magic Kingdom was filling fast as we arrived after our breakfast. In comparison to our visit at Easter though it was relatively empty. We completed our arranged Fastpasses which were Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain & Peter Pan.

Earlier in the week we had noticed that Extra Magic Hours was on this evening and we made the decision to return to our resort for an afternoon nap & swim. Our intention was to have a late night in The Magic Kingdom.

I have mentioned several times that the weather has not been great this week. Today overall the weather was pretty good. However, early evening we had the most ferocious storm to date. The lightning was pretty intense and we were pleased we where under the shelter of our villa.

For a short period it felt like it was touch and go whether we would get to our dinner reservation at Artist Point. Thankfully the storm settled just in time and we got an Uber to Wilderness Lodge. We have used Uber several times this vacation and we continue to be impressed. They provide comfortable, prompt and reasonably priced rides. The Uber App is an essential part of our Walt Disney World Vacation kit.

Artist Point is one of the highest rated Disney Signature Restaurants. It serves outstanding food in a setting reminiscent of National Park Lodges. Food is inspired by the “wonders of nature”.

The food is first class and some of the best I have tasted at Walt Disney World. Both the cheese board I had as a shared appetiser & the fillet steak main were faultless. Service was exceptional being both unrushed and responsive.

Artist Point treated Auntie Catherine brilliantly for her birthday providing several complimentary drinks of champagne & a dessert. The waiter did not even seem concerned she was dressed as a Christmas Tree! In comparison Le Cellier provided nothing last year for Mrs. Modernlifeisgood’s birthday.

I usually recommend avoiding Extra Magic Hours but I felt tonight might be a good night to attend. Usually when EMH are late at the Magic KIngdom they do quieten down. Tonight’s EMH finished at 1am. In 2 hours we managed to complete:
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Haunted Mansion
- Flying Carpets
- Winnie the Pooh
- Tea Cups
- Big Thunder Mountain
- Buzz Lightyear
I think this represented a fairly successful evening.

Overall we had a great day and Auntie Catherine a fantastic birthday. However, our journey does not stop here as tomorrow we are off to Epcot.

Where did you get this cake!?
