Hello I’m David and welcome to Modern Life is Good & our 2018 Orlando Live Blog. Modern Life is Good is a Family Travel Blog specialising in Orlando and Cruising.
The attached picture was taken 10 weeks ago when I broke my shoulder in Disneyland Paris. Breaking my shoulder was the last thing I expected when starting our short New Year short vacation. Despite the best laid plans anything can happen when you are away & adds to the fun of creating a travel blog.

Now almost fully recovered we have embarked on a last-minute journey to Orlando. Over the next 13 days we will be visiting Universal Orlando, staying at the Hard Rock Hotel, celebrating Easter at Walt Disney World, enjoying Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival & enjoying our first Disney Cruise on board the Disney Wonder.

Currently we are staying over night at the Hyatt Place Orlando Airport. The hotel is a more than adequate hotel close to Orlando Airport with excellent large rooms and a nice comfortable lounge. A free shuttle collected us from the airport. We have enjoyed a swim and had some decent food. However, we are shattered and are ready for an early night after a long day.

Our day started early at Gatwick Airport catching a flight with Thomas Cook Airlines. This was the first time we had ever flown with Thomas Cook. The package holiday company provides a no frills flight experience. Aircrafts are comfortable but there are many addons including the majority of drinks & entertainment.
Is charging £5 extra to watch the aircraft’s movies right? I can understand why they do it. However, with kids it was impossible not to hand out the extra fiver.

Food on Thomas Cook is designed by celebrity chef James Martin. Having seen his work on television and knowing his restaurants have outstanding reputations there is no doubt Mr. Martin is a talented individual. James Martin is also the executive chef for Virgin Trains in addition to acting for Thomas Cook. On these transport options his standard of fayre seems more mediocre. Despite the tempting description on the outside the dish was rather underwhelming.

Tomorrow we are off to Universal Orlando staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. We might even catch a Minion.
We will bring you daily updates of our adventures on Modern Life is Good. Our daily updates will come via a battered old iPad with a cracked screen, no access to our usual grammar checker and inconsistent internet connections. It is bound to be high quality blogging. Please keep in touch by leaving a comment below.

Onwards we go.
David

Not managed to get Sarah to reply yet but thanks for your comment Claire.
Hope you had a good trip.
Easter Sunday was surprisingly quiet at Animal Kingdom. Flight of Passage was even only running at 100 minutes(I think that is good).
World Showcase today was pretty quiet but waits for rides seemed very long everywhere.
Magic Kingdom tomorrow
