We have been neglecting Hollywood Studios at modernlifiesgood recently. The park is undergoing massive changes therefore we keep holding off producing a beginners guide. 2018 is going to be a big year for Hollywood Studios. To start the ball rolling we present Ten Fabulous Fascinating Hollywood Studios Facts.

Opening Date
Disney’s Hollywood Studios debuted on May 1, 1989. It was the third Theme Park at Walt Disney World.
The Biggest Ever Hidden Mickey
The parks’ original layout featured a large Hidden Mickey which can be seen on aerial photographs of the park.
Original Name
The park was originally called Disney-MGM Studios.
The current name was introduced January 7, 2008. It is rumoured the name might soon be changing again.
It could have been in Epcot
Initially it was planned to have a Movie Themed Pavilion in Future World at Epcot. Once Universal announced their plans to open a park in Orlando Disney reversed their plans.

Hollywood Brown Derby
The restaurant is a replica of the original restaurant in Los Angeles. The original restaurant was destroyed by fire in 1987.
It is bigger than The Magic Kingdom
The park is 135 acres in size. Epcot and Animal Kingdom are bigger.
Not quite 200.
The Tower of Terror is 199 foot tall. If it was any taller it would need an aircraft warning light on top.
Sorcerer’s Hat
The Sorcerer’s hat is the former park’s icon. It was present from 2001-2015.

Earffel Tower
The Earffel Tower was the park’s original icon from 1989-2001.
Despite no longer being the park’s icon it lasted longer than the Sorcerer’s Hat. It was eventually removed April 29, 2016 to make room for Toy Story Playland.
Chinese Theatre
The Chinese Theatre is a full-scale recreation of the original Hollywood Theatre’s exterior and lobby.
