Join us on Jewel of the Seas in St. Croix as we explore the small town of Frederiksted.
Continuing our Southern Caribbean Vlogs it is time to visit St. Croix our Day 2 stop. Sadly many of the islands we visited on this cruise have been hit by the recent hurricanes. St. Croix is no exception and our thoughts are with all residents of the Caribbean including St. Croix.

St. Croix is presently closed to cruise ships following Hurricane Maria. It has been announced that the port will reopen on November 11th.

Frederiksted is a small town and the only cruise port in St. Croix. St. Croix is the largest of the US Virgin Islands but St. Thomas has a slightly larger population. The capital of the US Virgin Islands is, Charlotte Amalie, also located on St. Thomas.

St. Thomas is a much more regular stop for cruise ships than St. Croix. St. Croix though is a welcoming island which has a laid back atmosphere. Frederiksted itself is a rather small town with some beautiful nearby beaches and a market that was put on for tourists. There was also a live band playing in the town centre. If there was no ship in town I suspect there would be little to do here.

Perhaps the highlight of the day did not come on land. Once back on the ship we spotted a turtle swimming near the ship from our balcony. I have managed to get some video footage of the turtle on the vlog.

We will be bringing you more videos over the coming weeks including St. Maarten, Dominica, Grenada & Barbados.
