Pandora – The World of Avatar is the hottest new area in Walt Disney World. Pandora includes the biggest E-Ticket Attractions in Walt Disney World but also the Biggest Crowds. Having a plan is essential. Read our review of how to beat the crowds when you visit Pandora.
Pandora opened to the public in May 2017. The area is believed to have cost in the region of $500 million. It is inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar which remains the highest grossing film of all time.
The Land features Pandora’s wildlife, plants and alien wildlife. The total area that has been developed is in the region of 12 acres.
To maintain the natural theming of the land; unlike all other themed lands in Disney Parks, Disney Branded merchandise and Mickey Mouse images have been omitted.
The area features music based on the original score of Avatar.
The area contains 2 main attractions Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. In addition, there are Avatar inspired shopping and dining options.
Na’vi River Journey
Guests are taken through the Kasvapan River of Pandora. On your journey, you will see native animals and bioluminescent flora.
The audio-animatronics are stunning and the catchy music will stay in your head all day. This ride is suitable for all the family and only the timidest children will be scared.
Avatar Flight of Passage
Guests take a flight on a Banshee across Pandora. This 3D simulator is unbelievable and has raised the bar on theme park experiences.
Although queues are incredibly long without a Fastpass this is a ride NOT to miss. If you can’t get a Fastpass get in the standby line. You will regret it if you don’t.
Shopping and Dining
Satu’li Canteen is a quick-service restaurant which serves cultural food of the Na’vi!
Pongu Pongu, a food and beverage stand which serves some amazing cocktails.
Windtraders is the land’s retail shop. The very popular Banshees can be purchased here.
The rest of Pandora is visually stunning. The Land is by far the best in any theme park currently. The attention to detail is unbelievable. Trying to work out which are real and what are model plants is quite a challenge.
Top Tips for Your Visit
You can only request one Fastpass+ a day for the attractions in Pandora. Your other 2 selections must be in other areas of Animal Kingdom.
If you are only visiting for one day get Flight of Passage. If you are visiting twice get Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey on alternate days.
Do not expect any Fastpasses to be available for either of the attractions once your first 3 selections are used.
If you are only visiting for 1 day and have a Flight of Passage Fastpass join Na’vi River Journey line on rope drop.
If you do not manage to get either Fastpass join Flight of Passage on park opening but be ready to wait. Flight of Passage usually has the longer wait.
Alternatively, lines do go quieter during Rivers of Light. Join the line approximately half an hour before Rivers of Light starts.
If you are not staying at a Disney Resort do not go on Early Magic Hours days. The lines will be massive already when you can get in.
If you plan to eat at Satu’li Canteen order your food in advance on the Disney Experience App.
