Barbados Beach Hop Island Style leaving from Bridgetown is without doubt one of the best tours I have ever been on.
Over 4 hours we:-
- Visited 3 spectacular sandy beaches with crystal clear seas.
- Enjoyed laugh a minute commentary from a wonderful guide.
- Drank plenty of local Rum Punch.
- Travelled on 1 of the most unique vehicles in the world.
- Learnt that the “Red Bus Sucks!”.

Our transport was a 1960’s open air Barbados Bus. One of the very last remaining in use. In the past it was used to transport school children. Simple transportation but great fun and perfect in the warm weather.

The bus travelled through Bridgetown as we made our way to our 3 beaches. The was excellent commentary and plenty of drinks as we travelled through the city. Rivalry with the Red Bus was a constant theme.

As we toured through Bridgetown our guide had banter with passing locals and we saw sites such as the Race Track & the Parliament Buildings.

The highlight of the tour was the beaches. Perfect sands and beautiful seas.

At each beach the sea was calm and was perfect for paddling and swimming. With snorkels it was possible to see some small fish. Relaxing in the sea it was hard to think of a better place.

We had between 45-75 minutes at each stop before we boarded the bus again, received a fresh drink and moved on to our next stop.

None of the beaches were crowded and each stop was about long enough on a very hot Caribbean day.

We returned to our ship singing friendly abuse as we overtook the red bus and then pretended we were a religious outing as we went through port customs singing “Kum by yah, My Lord”.

Crazy fun in the sun & the earliest hangover I have had for many a year.

Barbados Beach Hop Island Style on #1 Bajan Bus a tour not to miss.
