Apparently tomorrow is National Fluffernutter Day….don’t worry I had never heard of it either. I hadn’t even heard of Fluffernutter until 10 minutes ago.
Apparently it is a sandwich made with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff usually served on white bread. I understand it is particularly popular in New England. It has even been proposed as the official state sandwich of Massachusetts. Personally I think it sounds disgusting but each to their own; I guess.
Quite why the should be a need for a National Fluffernutter Day I am not sure. However since joining Twitter I realise the is no such thing as a normal Saturday anymore. This week we have already celebrated World Smile Day, National Poetry Day & World’s Teachers Day among others. In fact the are now so many celebrations days need to be shared e.g. World’s Teachers Day was shared with Do Something Nice Day.
Do Something Nice Day is fascinating as later in the month we do the reverse and have Mischief Day. Perhaps October 20th is the most fitting as we have Information Overload Day & perhaps then we should all just give up.
However; for some celebrations days are not enough. This week was Get Organised Week. Next week we have Pet Peeve Week. I think I know what my Pet Peeve is…… and Pet Peeve Week you are part of it!
Weeks are even not enough for some. October is also Computer Learning Month, International Dinosaur Month & National Book Month. Quite why these all deserve a whole month when the is also a Dinosaur Day on 15th May, World Book day on the 2nd March & World Computer day on the 2nd December I am lost.
When I was a kid things were simple we had 7 days split into 5 weekdays and the weekend. We celebrated Birthday, Christmas, New Year & Easter. The was also the odd Public Holiday which pretty much meant we got a day off school. The Scot’s had a few extra holidays so they could have a drink. However it was simple and followed the same pattern every year.
Now it is too complex. Apart from celebrating National Fluffernutter Day it is also American Touch Tag Day, National Costume Swap Day, National Pierogi Day plus several more. How do I know which to celebrate? Do I celebrate them all? I don’t even know what some of them are. I am so busy tonight celebrating World Smile Day & National LED Light Day I don’t have time to find out.
Tomorrow I am going back to basics. Forget National Fluffernutter Day I’m not celebrating it. I’m naming tomorrow “Can’t be Arsed Day” & I think that is something we could all celebrate.
