Boardwalk on Harmony of the Seas

August 25, 2016 by @Modlifeisgood Leave a Comment

The Boardwalk on the Oasis Class Ships brings a 1950s seaside theme on board a cruise ship. Like it sister ships Harmony of the Seas has the Boardwalk as one of its 7 neighbourhoods.

When you enter the boardwalk you will soon see a traditional carousel which is one of the highlights and Royal Caribbean signature offerings on Oasis Class ships.

Complimentary food is available from the Dog House offering a selection of different styles of Hot Dog. Unfortunately the is no doughnut area available in the morning unlike Allure of the Seas. For a fee the is a Starbucks plus a Mexican Diner called Sabor. Johnny Rockets is also on the Boardwalk and is complimentary for breakfast but the is an extra fee at other times.

New to Harmony of the Seas is Lucky Climber which is great children play area. I can best describe this as like a set of giant coloured Pringles.

Going down the Boardwalk you will meet the exit for the Ultimate Abyss the new slides that run from 10 decks above. A photo point is also available next to the attraction. Personally I think the Ultimate Abyss ruins the Boardwalk environment and hope it is not added to Oasis 4 & 5. It certainly ruined the view from our Boardwalk balcony cabin and something you should think about if booking these cabins.

Finally at the bottom of the Boardwalk and looking out on to the ocean is the Aquatheater. The aqua shows on Harmony of the Seas are sensational and The Fine Line should not be missed.

I love the Boardwalk but the seemed to be something not quite right on Harmony and it just did not have the same Wow as Allure. Certainly the Ultimate Abyss did not help but other things also did not seem as well done. The was no hall of mirrors, the horse carvings in the entry was replaced with empty space and some of the finishings just did not seem as high quality. Even the Carousel did not seem as elegant and provided a lot rougher ride. However; if you have not been on one of the other Oasis Class ships you will almost certainly still get the Wow from the Boardwalk and in most other areas Harmony is actually nicer.

A short video showing some of the highlights from the boardwalk is below
